Downtown Sanford Municipal Marina
The Downtown Sanford Municipal Marina, located on the southern shore of Lake Monroe in the heart of Sanford, is a vibrant waterfront destination framed by the scenic Sanford Riverwalk and just steps from the shops and award-winning restaurants of Historic Downtown. The marina, previously constrained by outdated and deficient infrastructure, is undergoing a full revitalization led by Edgewater Group.
Edgewater Group delivered structural assessments, a new master plan, full-service engineering, marina design, and utility planning, and continues to support the City with tenant proposals and broader waterfront redevelopment strategies. In partnership with the City’s FEMA consultant and a 10-person FEMA team, the project identified the potential for $17 million in FEMA funding, with an additional $3 million secured through an EDA grant.
The project’s technical scope included marina market analysis, economic modeling with projected cash flow, civil, marine, and coastal engineering, architectural studies for marina and support facilities, and the design of an automated dry stack system. Permitting coordination with Florida Department of Environmental Protection, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and local agencies was also managed by the team. Once complete, the reimagined marina will feature 236 slips, creating a modern, resilient, and economically impactful waterfront hub for the region.
